If you need root canal treatment, then we’ll clear the infected tooth of its pulp and nerve, removing the bacteria and filling the space with our dental materials. This will secure the remaining tooth, as well as protecting the teeth around it, and will avoid the need for an extraction. A dental crown will then be fitted on top to further protect and strengthen the tooth.
During root canal treatment, some patients may wish to have IV sedation, which we can discuss with you beforehand and administer as required, to help reduce anxiety. Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is another alternative for nervous patients.
